Brandon Sick, M.D.I’ve known I wanted to be a doctor since I was in the 4th grade. I grew up in a small town of 500 people, where everyone knew each other and watched out for each other.
I found it easy to choose family medicine as my specialty because I could help take care of the health needs of the whole family. By knowing and caring for the whole family, you know the family better and they know their doctor better. It’s a better doctor-patient relationship and leads to better healthcare delivery. I graduated from University of Rochester and studied the art and science of medicine at Albany Medical College. I completed residency in family medicine at McLeod Health in Florence, SC. I’ve been practicing family medicine for 20 years, twelve of which I’ve been honored to practice in Rock Hill. However, in recent years, healthcare delivery has been badly damaged by the insurance industry and government regulations that make it increasingly hard to spend time with your patients. |
The patients don’t like it nor do the physicians, as more time is spent looking at a computer screen and less time looking at the patient. When patients are sick, there is less access to help them, so they have to go to an urgent care where they see a provider they don’t know. Or worse, with healthcare becoming ever more expensive to comply with insurance regulations, patients go without care.
I want to deliver old-fashioned medicine in our modern society. I believe in providing high quality care that is accessible and affordable. I want to have time for patients; it’s essential for providing the best care possible to my patients. I want to my patients to see me when they have a medical issue, instead of waiting weeks for an available appointment. I want to be accessible; if you have a question, you can simply ask it by calling, texting or emailing, whatever works for you, and I will answer it. We don’t have phone trees and waiting 20 minutes on hold to see if you can get an appointment or if someone will return your call. My quest to provide premier medical care for my patients led me to direct primary care. It’s better medicine and more satisfying for the doctor and the patient. It’s the type of medicine I wanted to deliver when I chose family medicine as my specialty.
My wife, Kelley, and I choose Rock Hill as our home nineteen years ago. We were impressed that despite growing city amenities, small town values remained. We felt and still believe that Rock Hill is a great place to raise a family. I am very fortunate to have married a lady who not only is a wonderful wife and mother, but also fully supportive and helping to start this new model of affordable healthcare. We have three lovely children, Mikayla, Sumner and Loren that delight and entertain us, and a very spoiled dog, Rigsby.
